Land Sub Division for Keekonyokie Farmers’ Co-Operative Society Ltd. Ends on a Happy Note

Keekonyokie Farmers Co-operative Society Ltd. was registered in 1966 as a land buying Co-operative Society. Its area of operation is Kiserian Ward in Kajiado County. It had a total of 40 members all belonging to the Maasai community.

After several years of protracted disputes and legal battles, the land has now been amicably sub-divided among the 40 members and the community, as a gesture of Corporate Social Responsibility. The Government, through the State Department for Co-operatives, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Co-operatives, has been instrumental in arbitrating the warring parties resulting in the settlement of the dispute out of court.

The presentation of title deeds took place on 31st July, 2017, at the Society’s land in Kajiado County. The landmark event was presided over by Mr. Ali Noor Ismail, CBS, the Principal Secretary, State Department for Co-operatives.
