India Meets Kenya

The Principal Secretary, State Department for Industry, Dr. Juma Mukhwana today joined his counterpart from the state Department for Investment Promotion Abubakar Hassan Abubakar, Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest)’s CEO. John Mwendwa and partners from India Kenya Business Council, (IKBC) in signing a collaborative agreement between KenIvest and IKBC. 
Speaking during the event, Dr. Mukwana emphasized the need to cement the cordial business relationship between Kenya and India. Noting that Kenya has been recently ranked as the biggest economy in East Africa, the PS called upon the Indian Community to take advantage of the trade and investment opportunities especially pharmaceuticals, horticulture and affordable housing.  


“There will be numerous opportunities in the County Aggregation Industrial Parks (CAIPs)” he added. This will present an opportunity to venture in manufacturing as there will be access to primary materials and equipment. 
The High Commissioner of India and PR of India and PR to UNEP and UN- Habitat Ms Namgya C. Khampa who graced the event urged both India and Kenya to constructively explore opportunities that were available, capitalizing on Kenya’s competitive edge, to grow the two economies.
PS Abubakar, said that Kenya was ready to strengthen bilateral economic agreements and enhance visa access for Indian Investors to thrive in the country. The PS also emphasized the government’s commitment to ease investment in Kenya through an elaborated consultation with the immigration department to enhance seamless acquiring of business permits.
